SmileX Design (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects user privacy and is committed to protecting personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, processed, and stored when using the SmileX Design mobile application.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the SmileX Design mobile application.
The App is a two-dimensional digital smile design tool intended for professional use by dental professionals and technicians.
Users are responsible for complying with applicable local laws and regulations.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 User Account Information
When creating an account or signing in, we may collect:

- Email address
- Phone number
- Login credentials
- Subscription information, such as status, type, and duration
Purpose of collection:
- Account creation and management
- Authentication and access control
- Subscription entitlement management
- Service-related communication
We do not store payment card details. Payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable.
2.2 Patient Data
Users may optionally enter patient-related information, including:
- Patient name or identifier
- Phone number
- Age and gender
- Notes
- Patient images, including Smile and Retractor images
- Facial landmarks, face contour points, and face shape analysis results
- Facial proportion measurements and aesthetic face shape classifications
- Smile design results and PDF reports
Important Notice:
All patient data, images, facial landmarks, face contour points, face shape analysis results,
designs, and reports are stored locally on the user’s device only.
We do not upload, store, or process patient data on our servers.
3. Image Processing, Face Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence
All image processing, face detection, facial landmark detection, face contour analysis, face shape analysis, and AI-based analysis are performed entirely on the user’s device through on-device processing.
The App may analyze facial landmarks, facial proportions, jaw contour, chin contour, and face shape similarity scores to support visual smile design and aesthetic planning.
Face shape analysis results may include aesthetic classifications or blended classifications such as oval, round, square, rectangular, triangular, or mixed face shape types.
No patient images, facial landmarks, facial measurements, face shape results, medical data, or patient design data are transmitted to our servers.
The App does not use facial analysis to identify a person, verify identity, authenticate users, or create a biometric identity profile.
Patient data is not used for analytics, tracking, advertising, or training external AI models.
4. Device Permissions
The App may request access to certain device features solely to enable core functionality, including:
- Camera: To capture patient images within the App for smile design purposes.
- Photos / Gallery: To select existing images from the user’s device.
- Files / Storage: To save generated images or export smile design reports, including PDF reports.
Images selected or captured through these permissions may be processed locally to detect facial landmarks, analyze face shape, and support smile design workflows.
Notice:
Permissions are requested only with user consent.
No content is accessed without user interaction.
No images or files are uploaded to our servers.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
We confirm that we do not currently:
- Store patient images or patient data on our servers
- Store facial landmarks, facial measurements, or face shape analysis results on our servers
- Use facial analysis for identity recognition, biometric authentication, or user verification
- Use analytics or crash reporting tools
- Use advertising or tracking identifiers
- Share data with third parties for marketing purposes
- Sell or rent personal data
6. Data Storage and Backup
The App does not provide an internal cloud backup system for patient cases and design files.
Patient data, images, facial landmarks, face contour points, face shape analysis results, designs, and reports are stored locally within the App’s environment on the user’s device.
Local data may be subject to operating system-level backup mechanisms, which are outside the App’s control.
7. Data Sharing
We do not share personal data with third parties except:
- When users explicitly export or share images or PDF reports
- When required by law
Once data is shared outside the App by the user, it is no longer under our control.
8. Data and Account Deletion
Account deletion does not automatically cancel active subscriptions managed through Apple App Store or Google Play.
Users may delete their account directly from within the App through the account settings, or request deletion through the contact methods provided.
Deleting the account from within the App will remove account-related data and will permanently remove all locally stored data on the device, including images, facial landmarks, face shape analysis results, database records, design files, and saved reports.
Account deletion requests will be processed within a reasonable timeframe after verification.
Some information may be retained where required by law, for security purposes, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or to enforce legal obligations.
9. Data Retention
Account-related information is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain account functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Patient data, images, facial landmarks, face contour points, face shape analysis results, designs, and reports stored locally on the user’s device remain under the user’s control unless deleted by the user.
10. Data Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data, including:
- Protection of account information
- Use of operating system security mechanisms
- Restricted access controls
- Encryption of data in transit where applicable
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate security of their own devices, backups, exported files, and shared reports.
11. Intended Use, Face Shape Analysis, and Medical Disclaimer
The App is intended for professional use only.
SmileX Design is a two-dimensional visual smile planning and simulation tool. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment recommendations, clinical decision support, biometric identification, or identity verification.
Face shape analysis, facial proportion measurements, and smile design suggestions are provided for visual, aesthetic, and communication purposes only. Results may vary depending on image quality, facial angle, lighting, calibration, manual point adjustment, and other factors.
Any tooth shape suggestions or smile design directions generated from face shape analysis are aesthetic references only and must not be treated as clinical instructions.
Users remain fully responsible for all clinical decisions, professional judgment, treatment planning, and for obtaining any necessary patient consents under applicable law.
12. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children.
Users must obtain all legally required consent before entering, capturing, or processing data related to minors.
13. Geographic Scope
The App may be available in multiple regions.
Users are responsible for complying with applicable local laws and regulations in their jurisdiction, including laws related to patient privacy, consent, medical records, biometric data, and professional dental practice.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically.
Any updates will be reflected by revising the “Last Updated” date on this page.
Users are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
15. Governing Law
